Testing your satphone
Six steps to check your satellite phone works.
The test
- Go outside — away from trees and buildings. All satellite phones will only work outdoors with an unobstructed view to the satellite (clouds are OK).
- Extend the antenna — carefully rotate or extend the antenna and keep it towards the sky. Check your quick-start guide for info.
- Power on — turn on your handset once outside with the antenna extended.
- Wait until ready — check you have a good signal and wait for the handset to say Registered or Ready.
- Dial the test number — Iridium:
