The 9575 Extreme is the smallest, lightest and most durable handset Iridium makes — a ruggedised handset made for the world. It rides on the only network with genuine pole-to-pole coverage: 66 cross-linked satellites, no gaps, no regional dependencies. Every unit we sell leaves London with its SIM fitted and registered: power on outdoors and make your first call.

Where does it work?
Everywhere on the Iridium network, which covers the whole planet including both polar regions: its 66 satellites are cross-linked, so calls do not depend on regional ground stations. Service is disabled in North Korea, and some countries restrict possession or use of satellite equipment, so check with your destination’s embassy before you travel.
Does a satellite phone work indoors?
Not reliably. A satellite phone needs a direct line of sight from its antenna to the satellite, so it will not work inside buildings or vehicles unless used with an external antenna. Trees, hills and tall buildings can also block the signal: step outside into a clear view of the sky before making a call.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 30 hours on standby (manufacturer figures). A high-capacity battery that extends talk and standby time is available, and comes in the 9575 Traveller Pack.
Can I have a UK phone number on it?
Yes, on a monthly plan. Our UK number plans include a UK number for incoming calls, and incoming calls are free. Standard Iridium monthly plans also offer an optional UK or US local number as an extra.
What is in the box?
The Standard Pack contains the handset with its SIM fitted, registered and tested before dispatch; a standard battery; an AC travel charger with UK, EU, US and AU adapters; a car charger and USB data cable; and a leather case, wrist strap and hands-free earpiece. The Traveller Pack adds a waterproof hard case and a high-capacity battery.
Can I rent one instead?
Yes. We rent the Iridium Extreme, with a minimum charge of 7 days. If you only need a satellite phone for a single trip, rental almost always beats buying.
