Inmarsat IsatPhone 2 — firmware

Firmware versions and update procedures for both IsatPhone 2 models — the standard IsatPhone 2 and the Model 2.1.

Firmware updates are done at the user's risk. It is important to follow the instructions precisely to minimise the risk of damage.

Do not proceed until you have identified the model you have. The two IsatPhone 2 models take different firmware and different USB drivers. Always review the firmware documents to make sure a release is suitable for your exact model of equipment.

Before you start — both models

To upgrade the handset’s firmware you must have a PC running Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows XP.

To check the version currently on your handset, go to Menu → Settings → About → Firmware version.

Install the USB drivers for your model first, before connecting the handset to your PC. If you do not do this, Windows will try to use another driver that is not compatible, and it will not work. Driver installation is a three-step process: download the drivers, unzip them, then install them — all three steps are detailed in the instruction guide. USB drivers are compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7, 8 and 10. (For Windows 7, USB 3.0 is not supported.)

From time to time it may be necessary to upgrade your phone in order to improve its functionality and operation. You will be notified by Inmarsat and/or your service provider when a firmware upgrade is required.

IsatPhone 2 — firmware 02.00.03

Firmware version 02.00.03 supersedes firmware version 02.00.01, which was released in April 2017.

This is a mandatory firmware upgrade for handsets that have not been upgraded to firmware version 02.00.01 — the features introduced by the firmware are critical for the functionality of the GSPS service, including the network and the IsatPhone 2 handset. For handsets already upgraded to firmware version 02.00.01, this is a recommended firmware upgrade that provides bug fixes for the user interface only.

IsatPhone 2.1 — firmware 01.00.13

Firmware version 01.00.13 supersedes firmware version 01.00.05, which was released in August 2018.

This is a recommended firmware upgrade, meaning that the features introduced by the firmware are important but not critical for the GSPS service, including the network and the IsatPhone 2 (Model 2.1) handset.
