How to check your Satellite Phone Prepaid Credit Balance

Iridium
  • Find a suitable location. This is a location with clear view of the sky to the horizon in all directions where you have a continuous signal of at least 3 bars.
  • Dial 2888 and press the green call button. You will then hear an automated message alerting to your current balance and how much longer your credit will be valid for.
  • Thuraya
  • First aquire a new GPS, you do not need to do anything other than leave the handset in an area with a clear view of the sky in all directions down to the horizon for at least 20 minutes, please see this page for more details.
  • Find a location with a clear view to the Thuraya satellite, from the UK this is to the South East at an elevation of ~ 10° off the horizon.
  • Dial *151# and press the green call key. You will receive a message displayed on the screen with your current balance (please note that Thuraya quote the unit balance as $) and valdity period
  • IsatPhone Pro
  • First aquire a new GPS, you do not need to do anything other than leave the handset in an area with a clear view of the sky in all directions down to the horizon for at least 20 minutes, please see this page for more details.
  • Find a location with a clear view to the Inmarsat Satellite, from the UK this is South East at an elevation of ~ 15° to 20° off the horizon.
  • Wait for the handset to register onto the satellite. Once registered with an appropriate signal dial *106# and press the green call key. Wait a moment and your current balance and validity date will be displayed on the screen

  • Alternatively you can call +870772000591 from a landline to check your balance (please note that calls to satellite phone numbers can be more expensive than usual and it worth checking with your phone provider what they will charge or you).
  • Inmarsat BGAN
  • First aquire a new GPS, you do not need to do anything other than leave the terminal in an area with a clear view of the sky in all directions down to the horizon for at least 20 minutes, please see this page for more details.
  • Find a location with a clear view to the Inmarsat Satellite, from the UK this is South East at an elevation of ~ 15° to 20° off the horizon.
  • Register onto the satellite as you would normally do to use the BGAN. Once registered with an appropriate signal dial 591# from the handset and listen to the automated message for your balance (please note this is a free call).

  • Alternatively you can call +870772000591 from a landline to check your balance (please note that calls to satellite phone numbers can be more expensive than usual and it worth checking with your phone provider what they will charge).
